The Nome JROTC sincerely appreciates SITNASUAK, their corporate sponsor who donates $100,000 annually to pay Nome Public School's cost share of the JROTC program. In coordination with SITNASUAK leadership, the JROTC teaches and emphasizes Inupiaq values, provides Color Guard and Community Support to SITNASUAK and throughout the Nome Community (over 1,000 hours per year), is on call to render aid to Elders in the Community as need arises (i.e. carry groceries, shovel snow), provides the Annual Nanook Battalion Command & Staff Presentation to SITNASUAK leadership, and emphasizes marksmanship safety and advanced rifle through all cadets shooting at least one day per week and through hosting annual Turkey Shoots and Idita-Shoots (in conjunction with Iditarod) for the local community.
